Free route check

Is the Thailand route you've sketched doable?

Drop in your stops and nights, whether they came from ChatGPT or the back of a napkin. We score the plan against real transit times, minimum stays, and the monsoon calendar. Same rules as our planner. We judge; we never invent.

We assume you arrive and leave through Bangkok, like most Thailand trips. Flying into Chiang Mai or out of Phuket? That check is on our list.

Leg durations come from our verified transit table and are counted before waits and transfers. Door to door always runs longer. Where a leg has a fly-or-ground choice we score the faster option. This is a pacing check, not a verdict on your holiday.

What this checks

Seven things, and every one of them comes from the same rules our planner uses to build routes. Total transit hours against your trip length: a 7-night trip carrying 20 hours of buses and ferries is a timetable, not a holiday. Minimum useful stays, which rise after long journeys, because two nights after a ten-hour night train is a transfer with a hotel in the middle. The monsoon calendar for each coast, so an October beach week lands on the coast that's actually dry. Burning season in the North. Whether you end near your flight home. Stop pairs with no direct route. And one-night stays, the quiet killer of Thailand trips.

The durations come from a transit table we verify by hand: flights, night trains, ferries, and the vans in between. When your route includes a pair we haven't verified, the check says so instead of inventing a number. That rule holds everywhere on this site.

Why we built it

Most Thailand routes are drafted somewhere that has never looked at a ferry timetable. The classic result is four islands in nine nights, a monsoon-season beach week, or a Pai stop whose exit south quietly costs a full travel day. Those plans look fine on paper. You find out they weren't on the morning of day three.

If the check flags your route, the fixes are usually small: drop one stop, swap a coast for the season, move your last night to Bangkok. If you'd rather start from a route that already passes, the free planner builds one around your month, your pace, and your interests. And if you want the deeper background first, our month-by-month weather guide and the honest two-week itinerary cover the reasoning in full.
